Stunning surroundings

As well as our animals, there is plenty of wildlife on the farm. Lots of birds visit the garden and we have resident owls and woodpeckers. Otters frequent the stream that runs through the garden.

We have a public footpath that runs through our property and we are only a 15 minute stroll through fields and woodland to the village of Goodleigh, where you will find our local pub, The New Inn.  Justin and Julia offer home-cooked meals that cater for most palates. Wellies are recommended for the walk and we have a selection of sizes available if you need to borrow some!

The restaurant at Broomhill Sculpture Garden, Muddiford is also recommended, as is the Michelin-starred Mason's Arms in Knowstone.

There are many walks from the farm through surrounding fields and woodland. Coast and moorland walks are a short drive away, and of course we have maps you can borrow and lots of suggestions including our favourite walks.

This is also a great place for cycling; towards Exmoor if you like it hilly, or on the Tarka Trail towards Braunton or Bideford for a flat, off-road, tar-sealed ride (the longest one in the UK). We can provide ideas and suggestions to suit your energy levels.

We are a short drive from some of the best surfing in the UK at Croyde, Putsborough and Saunton Sands.

We have lockable storage available for any sporting equipment you might bring.

We are close to many beautiful gardens including Marwood Hill, Docton Mill and within easy reach of the RHS garden at Rosemoor.

Nearby you will find interesting estates to visit, such as Arlington Court a National Trust house, Killlerton, Knightshayes and Dunster Castle.

There are good local taxi services what will charge £10-£12 to get into Barnstaple during the day.

We are a 10 minute drive from Barnstaple rail station. There is a bus stop around 20 minutes’ walk from the house, but as in most rural areas public transport is fairly limited.
